Back in 2019, I sent Steez a message. I didn’t have much to show, no portfolio, no direction, just a vague idea that I wanted to do something around music. He replied. We talked.
It didn’t move forward, but it stayed in my head.
Then life went sideways corporate job, routines, the usual. I kept experimenting after hours – mostly with AI, originally because I wanted to make music. Somehow, the visuals took over.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I wrote to Steez again short message, just showing what I’ve been working on and asking if he’d be open to meet. Instead of a meeting, he asked if I wanted to make Spotify loops for PRO8L3M’s new album – EX UMBRA AD LIBERTATEM.
Then came the usual chaos: “So what’s your rate?” – and me trying to act like I had that figured out. Spoiler: I didn’t. But somehow it worked. And to be honest at that time I would do it for free. (I didn’t)
That’s how it started. No pitch, no plan, just a full circle moment few years later.
They invited me to the studio to listen to the new album, take notes. I didn’t make it that day – (nearly died of flu), but I showed up a few days later. We went over visuals, notes and, new album. Watching the loops go live was strange in the best way.
It wasn’t a win to brag about – it was one of those quiet confirmations that trying, even when it looks random, sometimes connects. Thanks to Oskar / Piotr for the trust in this project, – this was the kind of dream I couldn’t have pictured in 2019, even if I tried.
Now I’m counting down the last weeks of my corporate notice. No idea what’s next. But I’m starting to believe this creative thing might actually stick. Funny how I started using AI to make sound – and ended up making visuals for sound instead.
